Style and Colour: Kriek Gueuze.
Taste: Complex cherry lambic, with balanced acidity, and wonderful aromas of cherries.
Alcohol: 7 % ABV
Drinking Temperature: 8° C
Fermentation: Maceration of whole Morello cherries in traditional lambic for 7 months (1 kg per litre). Then the kriek lambic is blended with young lambic for spontaneous fermentation. It continues to ferment in the bottle.
The Brewery: 3 Fonteinen is a traditional lambic blender located in Beersel South Brussels, founded in 1883 by Jacobus Vanderlinden. The name 3 Fonteinen means three fountains and originally referred to the hand pumps that were used to serve the three types of beer: lambic, faro, and kriek. 3 Fonteinen started brewing his own lambic in 1998.
Origin: Lambic is a type of beer brewed in the Pajottenland region of Belgium southwest of Brussels. It is fermented through exposure to wild yeasts and bacteria.
Food: Pairs wonderfully with Mild Cheese, Sweet Desserts and Chocolate. Excellent as an aperitif.

A Perfect Example of the Style
Feels a bit juicy, medium-bodied, creamy, and rounded with smooth moderate carbonation, finishing dry leaving little but cinnamon spice, oak, a kiss of cherry fruit, and wheaty malts behind. Overall a really great Oude Kriek lambic ale.
