Switzerland, the land of beer?

According to the organisers of the Swiss beer fair in April 2019 in Conthey, Switzerland is the country with the most microbreweries per capita in the world!

In 2018, there are more than 1,000 producers and 4,000 varieties of indigenous beers.

Production and consumption increase in 2018 while imports decline.

After consuming less but better, the Swiss have been drinking more beer since 2018.

But the Swiss drink still less beer than its European neighbours.

On average, the Swiss drink 55 litres per year (15cl per day), while its German neighbour drinks almost twice as much with 101 litres. The biggest beer consumer remains the Czech, which consumes 138 litres of beer per year. The Belgian remains very reasonable, with 68 litres per year.

The Swiss market will certainly experience strong growth, given the per capita consumption and the many Swiss breweries that are developing with increasingly sought-after and successful artisanal beers, products of a passion for beer and incredible creativity.

The L'Apaisée brewery, for example, produces mixed-fermented beers, made from blends that only the master brewer Xavier Righetti knows how to make. I invite you to taste the Coetus Raspberry which contains 350gr of raspberries per litre. The taste of raspberries and beer sublimates in the mouth and reminds me of a natural champagne cocktail.

Another brewery I recommend in Geneva is the Chien Bleu Brewery, founded in 2016 in Geneva by Julien Manetti, which produces beers aged in barrels that delight the palates. Try Maguey, a blend of an amber Oud Bruin beer fermented in Tequila barrels for 13 months with another beer aged in barrels: the subtle taste of tequila at the end of the mouth will surprise you.

Outside geneva, the brewery A Tue Tête is a rising brewery, specialised in using local fruit and vegetables in barrel aged beers, like A TUE TETE CERISE, made with black cherries from Montreux, or A TUE TETE CASSIS, and A TUE TETE BETTERAVE.
